Geometry - sorting shapes

 Geometry in Room 21

This term we have been learning about geometry. We have learnt about 2D and 3D shapes.
2D shapes for example are squares, triangles, rectangles, and circles.
3D shapes are prisms, polygons like hexagon, pentagon, cube and cylinder just to name a few.

We have learnt about edges, vertices and faces.
A face is a flat surface.
An edge is where two lines met
A vertex is a corner where the edges meet

In these following pictures we were grouping similar shapes with the same number of faces and edges into groups.

We had to consider where we were going to place the correct shape, as we had to justify why we thought it belonged in that group.

Look at how long our lines became the most popular were squares and triangles.
